Melanie brings both lived experience and deep compassion to her role with FNQ Legacy. As a young widow and Legacy beneficiary, she first connected with the organisation during one of the hardest chapters of her life.
At a time when she and her young children needed support, FNQ Legacy wrapped around them with care, understanding, and practical help. That experience left a lasting impact and sparked Melanie’s commitment to give back to the same community that had stood beside her family.
Melanie began volunteering with FNQ Legacy, later joining the board, coordinating events, and stepping into the role of Wellbeing Officer. Through each role, she has brought empathy, warmth, and a genuine understanding of what Legacy families may be facing.
As Wellbeing and Executive Support Officer, Melanie continues to support FNQ Legacy families with compassion and purpose while assisting the organisation behind the scenes.
Her lived experience gives her a unique ability to connect with families, listen without judgement, and offer support that feels personal, practical, and heartfelt. Melanie’s focus remains clear: to honour the service and sacrifice of veterans by ensuring their loved ones feel supported, empowered, and never forgotten.
